  1. James, I bought a T3/T04E from you a few years ago. I really appreciated your help and patience with me at the time. I now have a 1 year old son and another on the way so I haven't had as much time for the Z hobby. I remember one time I spoke to you on the phone about my order and your son or daughter was screaming relentlessly. I now feel your pain! Good luck with the NSX project and keep us posted. -Mark Sims
  2. I'm going to see this car tomorrow for a potential new daily driver. 2000 Passat Wagon V6 5 Speed to replace my current 1997 Passat V6 5 Speed sedan. wvwnd23b3ye370862 Thanks in advance....Sims
  3. I quit 26 days ago. I'm 29 and I smoked about 12 cigarettes per day since I was 18. I didn't consider myself to be a heavy smoker but I do feel much better now that I've quit. My cravings are reduced now, but for the first two weeks I would read this webpage anytime I got a craving. Cozy, you should try this if you get an urge. I hope we are both successful. http://www.emphysema.net/my.html
  4. 13.3 @ 108 MPH See this link for the "timeslip" database http://forums.hybridz.org/timeslips.php?
  5. Does anybody have a link or a scan of the instructions? I bought my full cap years ago from someone local but it came without instructions/glue/etc....
  6. Not enough information. Is it a misfire (rich or lean) or is it an ignition miss (like a few dropped ignition events)? Are you running fuel only or spark and fuel?
  7. I doubt this is your problem, but a few months ago my alternator belt was slipping under load causing a voltage dip and the symptoms you are describing. Of course it was even worse with the headlights on. Have you tried increasing/decreasing the value of the pullup resistor? At least with the tach input the following applies: smaller resistance = more sensitive to lower RPM but noisy larger resistance = less sensitive to lower RPM but less noise at higher RPM
  8. Most agree that a driveshaft loop is a worthwile safety precaution on higher hp cars, but I don't often hear much discussion about the danger of a broken halfshaft.... In the past I have had my halfshaft bolts loosen enough that I could hear them clunk. Does anybody have any experience with a halfshaft letting loose at highway speed or under hard acceleration? Just wondering if it would rip through the floor, jam a wheel, etc....
  9. If I didn't already have a complete setup, I would be very interested in this part. Especially if you can get it cheap. Just a heads up for anyone that might benefit. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=013&item=230010211407&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1
  10. Just posting my experience and not a technical suggestion. I put a breather on mine and I don't burn/lose oil and it doesn't drip. I have been doing this for two years.

    Pinks

This week on PINKS (Season Premiere): Jeremy Cozad – TX (1976 Datsun 280Z) vs. Darrin Kling - FL (1983 Chevy Monte Carlo) Fiery import racer Jeremy Cozad comes to Gainesville to take home Darrin Kling’s muscle car. It’s a best three out of five drag race...for pink slips. WEDNESDAY, July 12th at 9pm ET/PT
  12. I had similar symptoms and followed this same procedure. However, in my haste I didn't disable the ignition and a spark ignited the gas and for a few seconds I thought I was going to lose my Z and my house as the car was in the garage. The flames were rising from the engine bay and licking the garage ceiling. Please be careful. Luckilly I keep two fire extinguishers within arm's reach in my garage and I took care of it quickly. Even from only burning for 5 seconds, I had to re-wire a lot of my MS wiring. Anyway, I traced my stuck injector situation to a longer screw that I used to hold my cowl down that penetrated my wiring harness and GROUNDED the return for one of the injector banks. I believe that MS grounds the injectors to fire them so you may want to start looking there. Good luck.
  13. Tim, that is your truck! I was looking for your original post this morning and couldn't find it. You posted it a while back and that's what got my wheels turning. Love the style and color. Awesome. Thanks also for the forum, that was going to be my next question. I was poking around http://www.fullsizechevy.com but they seem to be a bit more slanted toward late models.
  14. The family (wife and dog) and I are looking to upgrade from our townhome to a larger single family home in the next few months. Our townhome goes up for sale tomorrow. We're likely moving out to a rural area and we've been looking at 3 car garage homes with some acreage. I grew up in a rural area and I can't wait to get back to it. Yes, I'm keeping the Z no matter what. I would like to start thinking about a truck project. I would like something that I could do on a budget. Here is what I'm looking for in no particular order: 1. Comfortable interior. Crew cab would be great for when we have kids but not necessary. 2. Two wheel drive is fine. 3. Must have working AC 4. Ford, Chevy, Dodge? Help, I've only worked on my Datsun! 5. Budget: $5000 including truck. I'll do all the work, paint is about the only thing I don't do. 6. Must not be a mini truck (like Nissan hardbody) Somebody here (I think it was Mikelly) had a beautiful project truck that got me thinking. Suggestions? What cheap trucks do you guys drive? Thanks, Sims
  15. Here's my 18" x 6" x 3.5" Spearco. Works great at 15psi in 95 degree ambient or less weather with my setup. I have not run it at higher boost or at a higher temperature than that. The way I plumbed it, the hot air goes in the top of the IC and comes out the bottom. I hacked a lot of the radiator support, but a more patient person could probably get away with cutting less. I paid $450 a few years ago on ebay. I think this was part of a Mustang or Grand National kit. I know you're a decent fabricator, check out the spearco core page: http://www.turboneticsinc.com/ic_cores.htm
  16. Don't mean to hijack, but I have a similar setup as Phyxius. I run 14-15 psi and pulled a 13.3 @ 108MPH at the track which is approximately 290 horses to the wheels at 2970lbs.
  17. You made it *look* very simple , well done. Wow, jealous.
  18. 76 280Z 2+2 Turbo 2780 without me, no spare, no front bumper
  19. Awesome job and enjoy your new space. FYI, I've done every job to my Z (including motor swaps) in my 1 car garage at my townhome. It can be done and if it's all you know it's not that bad.
  20. Blake, AWESOME times. Let's see some pics of your setup. You ran within a hundreth of a second of my last and only track time. We have very similar setups and I hope we both see high 12's sometime soon. I second Prox on the ACT Street clutch.
  21. Hey Kid, 1. It is very possible that your stockers won't fit the fuel rail (must be a near exact fit because they are holding back 40+ psi of fuel pressure), but they should fit the TB with the right washer or whatever you seal them with. 2. It is also possible that your car will have difficulty idling with the 380's. I have 440's on my 2.8L and my duty cycle at 1000RPM is in the 2ms range. 380' s on a 1.8L would be like me having 600 cc/min on my 2.8. That would push the duty cycle into the 1ms range or less which might cause problems. Copied from another website: "Capabilities The minimum pulse width cycle time for most pintle type fuel injectors (Bosh/Nippon-Denso) is 2.0Ms for the Peak and Hold and 2.5Ms for the Saturated injectors. Alternatively, disc type injectors (Lucas) will cycle as low as 1.0Ms for Peak and Hold and 2.0Ms for Saturated. The difference in pulse widths between the pintle and disk type injectors can be attributed to weight differences." 3. If his injectors are stock and used, I think you should also try to negotiate some cash to make up the difference. Good luck.
  22. I got the 16" one from this guy. I hotwired it to a battery just to test it out and it almost sucked my shirt off my chest into the fan. Yikes. These things move some air.
