Is it possible to get a stance like this with a V8? www.1upautomotive.com/zcarsonline/center_page.asp?pic=art/carshows/cs040801/Disk5/Mrc-027s.jpg

Almost all of the V8 Z's that I see look like they are set up for Drag. I want mine to stay low and huge the road like it was on rails. I like to go through the cones for fun on Sunday afternoons.

That car is a "Primadonna" that was supposed to be the way a "Scarab" would have ended up if the buyer would do all the mods. Yes, the car is very impressive in real life--nicely done I might add--and is owned by Hoover, who posts in this Forum. Hoover's car has a bit of historical value. I do prefer Terry's car, which is a totally custom, one-off production with awesome engineering to match. A bit more up to date IMO.

I was going to ask why the engine wasn't set back...

It seems that if someone would put this much work and detail into a Z, then the engine would be set back. I guess I'm not old enough to remember the original "Scarab's" so I wouldn't know what the originals were supposed to look like (other than the non-setback engine). Either way, it's a remarkable piece of work. Is the owner of this Z car the same guy that want's to get a third Z car out in Ottawa? If his wife wont let him get the third, I'll be more than happy to take this Primadonna off his hands so he can reduce his inventory by one. biggrin.gif

Oh well... couldn't hurt to ask rolleyes.gif

I think I'll take Hoover's Turbo out of his hands to reduce his inventory by one. biggrin.gif Hehe. Pretty soon we'll have his whole house sold off without him knowing.

Well, I must admit, I thought I know alot about Scarabs, but that's a new one on me. They did have body kits, but they were usually just "california Z" rear fenders a la Jim Cook Racing, and flared fenders up front with an air dam and rear spoiler.

BTW, isn't the Primadonna a fairly old conversion/kit car? I remember seeing it in a magazine that I bought over ten years ago, I think.

That white 240 is "On the money" a coil-over conversion should put it down the way you want it. I love to see a car with big tires "STUFFED" under the fenders.

I almost forgot, but check out Darius's car in an old thread, I think in the chevy V8 forum. His car is slammed, and there are some good detailed photos of it as well.

Ummm, short lived the lowered Chevy V8 if you find a tall manhole cover.. I know the look is important, but if your going after that look, you'll need a wide roadrace pan, a good exhaust man to get the pipes by it, and if your running a T56 you'll still avoid stuff unless you want to take the bottom of your bellhousing/flywheel off. Perhaps a automatic would solve that problem. I wish that were'nt the case, but once you convert it and see the pan below the crossmember you'll believe it. I suppose one could raise the engine, but that will raise the CG and need a hood scoop most certainly.

That said, its not impossible to get the look, run side skirts, air damn, and iroc type flares that cover part of the tires and it'll look low, but ride height could be higher.

Just a opinion from someone currently dodging anything very tall...

Not all the V8 guys here drag race... My white 260 is not set up fpr drag racing (See Members rides) and the stance was important with the setup in those pics... I have since undergone the conversion process to coil overs, but as Terry mentioned, ground clearance will become an issue. You should be able to get any ride height within reason though, just plan to spend a few extra bucks in the area Terry mentioned!

I agree, about not lowering it TOO much. But, I think if thats the look you want, then spend the extra dough and go for the roadrace pan, and as Lone said the other things that go with it. Thats the price you pay for a "look". I had a mustang once that was lowered with Eibach springs. One night I was cruising with some girls in the car, and came up to a speed bump, I did the usual turn and go across it at an angle deal and the car still scraped. I felt the shifter move up about 1/2 inch in my hand eek.gif

You could always out a sticker on it that says "No fat chicks, car will scrape" biggrin.gif

I love the lowered look too. I did the tokito lowering springs with 225/50/15's My exhaust likes to drag on just about anything, and it's about 2-3 inches off the ground. I need to go and rework that, but will wait till i get the t56 all the way in. I want to raise it about an inch, with the coilover's, and 17's. Then the wider tires and fender flares will make it look great!!
