bubbleguinea Posted April 1, 2008 Share Posted April 1, 2008 probblaly already said, but ill add some info... lets see...ive broken about 4 pairs of halfshafts in my car...thats right....8 ujoints let go... some at 40mph, some at 0 doing burnouts.... the 40mph ones bent up the lower control arms a little bit, but nothing that id worry about....just the inner lip where the rear sway bar bolts too...but its a loud, MASSIVE clunking noise.... never had one let go at highway speed.... funny thing is, some were old shafts, two were rebuilt with Spicer joints.... the ones i have now are rebuilt with new grease everywhere and Percision ujoints.... bubbleguinea Posted April 1, 2008 Share Posted April 1, 2008 I have found the original oem ujoints lasted the longest. the "hollow" greaseable ones seamed to be the weakest. yeah, percision makes a non-hollow one that is still greasable...the nipple is inside one of the end caps with the needle bearings.... they are a little more expensive, but they are better...they end in P/N G... i think 187s are Z car ones, im not 100% sure...and the "nice stronger ones" are 187G with the greaseable end caps..
