Wilson_WWSC
I have a SBC 327 in my 240z. I need a new tranny with overdrive. Ive been thinking about the stage 1 700r4 from CK Performance. Is there anything at all that i need to buy to install the tranny in my car? Its currently got a turbo 350. Thanks for your help, wilson
nullbound
Read the FAQ on this page: http://www.700r4.com/faq/faq.shtml. It lists most of what you need to know to replace your turbo 350 with an overdrive transmission.
dr_hunt
IMO the 200-4R is a better choice because it has a higher geared OD. The z is so light that the 327 shouldn't have a problem cruizing and knock down some impressive mileage.
Wilson_WWSC
the reason i looked into the 700r4 was because my z is redline 3rd gear maybe 3/4ths the way down the quarter mile. top speed at redline is probably 87-90 mph (speedo isnt hooked up) do i need to buy any of the "optional equipment" such as custom ratio planetary gear set or improved bell housings or improved transmission shield? Also, should i get a stage 1 or 2 gmth400 from ck performance? http://www.ckperformance.com/resources/GMTH400TRANSMISSIONS.html
