defrag010
I'm in the process of doing all the body mods to my 1980 280ZX, and I want to do something a little different. I can do all of the bracketry and mounting, but what I want to know is if the 70-73 Z aftermarket front airdam will physically fit onto the front of a ZX? One like this: I have spent hours looking at all sorts of different pictures, and the spot on both the Z and the ZX where the airdam mounts to the fender (below the headlight) look to be the same. I want to go bumperless with this, and make a grille like the one in the picture.
Chewievette
I suppose you can probably make it fit but the curve of the front corners is different so it will look odd at best. but thats just my opinion.
VinhZXT
#1 - The 280ZX body is wider than the earlier Z. so that air dam won't fit. If you want to fit it in a ZX then you have to make a cut in the middle and expand it. then add fiberglass to bridge the middle gap. #2. The earlier Zs looks OK without the bumper but the ZXs without bumper just look butt ugly IMO.
veritech-z
Dav_it has an MSA type III S30 airdam (modified) on his car. There are pics in the vendor forum under the "Wide Body 280zx" thread.
bschiltz
An s130 would look OK without a bumper if you could find a way to fill in the VERY LARGE gap under the headlight buckets. I've played arround with the idea for a while, but it's been put on the back burner for now.

cpt jack
Like this one? how was this done? Is it using the stock front bumper?
Challenger
Hey 3 year bump! Anyone have more info on the ZX above? That looks awesome! Looks like fiberglass.
bschiltz
I've seen some other pictures of it on HBZ but I'm not sure where. I think there was another front end on it before or after this one, too, more flat looking.
Challenger
Was the thread about some guy that made a custom front and rear bumper? He was *going* to make molds and start selling them.
