John Scott
What rpm in final gear do you shoot for in relation to your hp and torque?
jnjdragracing
From what the dyno recorded 7500 rpm is our sweet spot. So the 3.54 gear ratio is it for us in the 1/4 mile, shift at 7500 rpm and roll through the 1/4 at 7500 rpm using the 2 speed powerglide. I would say probably a 3.90 gear for the 1/8 mile. boodlefoof
Something that won't take you out of your powerband by the time you cross the 1320 foot mark!
John Scott
Something that won't take you out of your powerband by the time you cross the 1320 foot mark! I thought since no more shifts, you would rather be near the redline of your engine and well past the "meat" of your powerband. I know shift points are determined to drop you into the power band. Just figured there would be a good predictor using an engines specific characteristics.

Mike C
If memory serves, the goal when gearing the car was to be at peak power 100 feet before the traps which resulted in fastest ET.
