John Scott
Are six bolt CVs, lets say from 86 non-turbo 300ZX, same as older 280 ZXT six bolt CVs? Probably answered in a post somewhere. Been digging for days and can't find answer.
JMortensen
Not the same. 300ZX NA isn't useful for any early Z swap. The shafts are too long and the flange is too wide.
zcarnut
Only difference is the length of the center axle shaft. As Jon mentioned, the 300ZX ones are longer. The sheet metal grease cover on the 300ZX CV axle has a smaller dimple than the 280ZX Turbo CV axle. This dimple houses the pre-load spring. The smaller dimple cover can be used on the 280ZX axles and this makes them easier to install on the earlier Z cars.
John Scott
Since the 300ZXT shafts are a desirable swap into early Zs, How do the length of the 300ZXT shafts compare? I assume they are the same length as non turbo shafts, but greater range of compression?
briann510
Where can one get the sheet metal grease cover from the 300ZX CV axles? Dealer says no have andcant get, and not too many people will want to remove this plate to sell it if their axles are good.

briann510
I also found a perfectly flat plate with the 6 bolt hole pattern also in my searching. Now whether this is a custom plate someone made or a stock one I dont know.
