danc
Guys: I remember a thread discussing Turbo Half Shafts in a V-8 application, and it was mentioned that all (I think) 2+2 Half Shafts R the same as the Turbos. Can anyone confirm or dispel that? Thanx Dan
Tim240z
Not too sure about that one, but I saw some CV shafts on a maxima at a JY that LOOKED identical to the ZXT CV half shafts, was planning to pull them, but got tired and lazy, and since I am using R230 rear, wasn't all that important, but might be worth the effort for someone planning the R200 swap. pparaska
I don't understand how they could be the same. All the FWD cars I've seen (including the 85 Maxima I had) have splined shafts on the outer joint that goes into the wheel hub. The inner joing and shaft COULD be the same though. blueovalz
Yes, SOME 2+2 Z cars do have the CV-jointed half shafts. I do not know what the criteria is for which ones do and which do not.
Guest JAMIE T
I have an '83 280ZX 2+2 5spd. non turbo. I bought it as a parts car becuase it does have an R200 and CV shafts. Like Terry, I don't know what the critiria is for the ZX's to have the CV shafts, but I can confirm that they do. I also have seen R180 equiped ZX's with CV shafts, avoid these since they wont work with the R200 rearand. Since you are going through the trouble of changing to CV's then you would likely change an early Zcar to an R200 rear. Jamie
