Chewievette
One of my other projects is getting a turbo install and an engine rebuild at the moment. I was wondering if I should break in the engine before I install the turbo or if I should break it in on boost. Obviously adding a turbo to a broken in engine is not a huge deal since people do it all the time, but would there be any advantage to doing the break in with the turbo installed, and should I run it at the "stock" 7psi or turn it down some? Or does it not matter and I'm just being paranoid?
Supra510
http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm http://www.supraforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=56491&highlight=engine+break I did this "flog it" method as outlined in the first link , no regrets. Some guys on Supraforums with some pretty high end machinery used it. I'm not sure if you have to be a member to read the 2nd link, if you do it's worth it. 260DET
My new engine and turbo were run in on a rolling road type dyno. At first under load at 3-4000rpm you could see a blue haze coming out of the exhaust pipe, then after just a few minutes the haze disappeared. The engine was then tuned including running up to max revs. Turned out to be a good engine, never used any oil.
