bobbyc
i called up to see about adding a car to my policy, they asked for some info, my address and what not...i gave them my new one (moved to denver 3-4 months ago from durango...about 5 hrs away) insurance is all done online so i never get a paper bill..never thought about it...so anyway she asked if i'd like to update...i said sure just so everything is current...she changed it and was like oh...that change raised your insurance by $60 bux every 6 months. i asked why and she danced around it...so i was asking if it was because of crime and a chance it'd get stolen? she said no. i asked if it was because there are more cars and increases my chances of hitting one? she said no. she finally said it was based off studies of the area...so then i asked if my rates were increasing based on a study of other peoples driving, and had little to do with my own...and she said "well umm yeah". what a crock of $hit..i'm callin tomorrow to some other insurers...or just to say this move was temporary and i'm goin back to durango. naviathan
Yeah, the study is based on the average number of traffic accidents in the area and the overall cost of the accidents. Then they figure in your driving record and raise it even more from there. Try Progressive, they're pretty good.
Guest TeamNissan
Ya I dont like thier "studies" I had a n/a 300zx insured under state farm then when it was stolen I bought a 85 integra just to get me until the next project. Called them and told them everything blah blah. Then when I got my bill it was the same. So I called them and they said its not any cheaper because of my age and how younger people hook up integras raising the accident rate. Thats some bogus ♥♥♥♥ right there lol. spotfitz
I had recently switched insurance companies after about 12 years with the same company. I first asked about pricing for my '92 Pathfinder(my DD) and found they had a pretty good quote. I asked if they deal with collectors or classic insurance and they said it depends. I told them the vehicle was an early '74 260Z and they said sure and quoted me a price without mile limitations. It was actually about the same price as the Pathy. I then inquired about getting just liability on my recently sold '77 280Z(old DD) and the quote was almost double that of the Pathfinder. I asked how this could be, just for liability. They said because it was a sports car and getting to old to find parts.... Have they not tried to find parts for the bastard year '74? I also guess I better just get an appraisal on the '74(which I was going to do) and not let them have a clue what a turbo is. Sports car, didn't we have a discussion about that meaning not to long ago?
patzky1
My insurance went down about $30 a for 6 months moving from Pensacola to Corpus Christi, so that was good. Also, I'm getting married AND turning 25 this year. YEAH!! Pat

zcarnut
Anytime your agent suggests a change to your policy, be suspicious. Last time I added a vehicle to my policy, mine tried to get me to drop my uninsured motorist coverage and also to change my deductible from $500 to $1000. Said it would save _ME_ big bucks! Yeah, right!
