LamboZ
I just bought some Magnecor KV85 competition wires for my MSnS L28et. everybody said they are the best and run perfect for a MSnS type system. well they came today but they say there 2.5mm..... they are labled for a Z-car and are the model wires. i did a search and nobody ever takes about what size wire it is when dealing with KV85's. i always ran NGK 8mm, so im confused if these 2.5mm's will be fine or not. JMortensen
Wouldn't that be a KV25? NGK's are 7mm I believe. I don't think I've ever seen a 2.5, but I have seen a 5mm wire on my old Toyota 22RE. They worked fine and I had a Toyota tech tell me to stick with the thin wires rather than replace with a huge wire, FWIW.
johnc
2.5mm is about a tenth of an inch. Are you sure those wires are that thin?
LamboZ
these wires are werid! they are 8mm, BUT they say 2.5mm. Magnecor lables 2.5mm for some type of lining? that they put in these KV85 wires. So a note to all who buys these wires, 8mm KV85's say 2.5mm on them. scared the hell out of me, because i want this car running!
ShiroZ
The 2.5mm refers to the core/conductor itself whereas the 8.5mm is the advertised diameter of the wire with the silicon/insulating jacket.
2126
The 2.5mm refers to the core/conductor itself whereas the 8.5mm is the advertised diameter of the wire with the silicon/insulating jacket. ShiroZ is correct! I have a set of the Magnacore KV85 wires and as ShiroZ said, the 2.5mm refers to the wire core diameter and 8.5mm the overall O.D.
