...My buddy Dennis has many connections in construction and he played an integral roll in the construction of my first garage. So today, When I was picking up a fireplace insert from him for my garage, he asked if I was ready to build the extension on my garage. I said "Why do you ask?". He informed me that a company that does concrete and block work, along with excavation work has hit a slow period and is looking for work. I told him to call the guy and see what a 28X28 garage with 13ft. ceilings, a 16 ft. by 10 ft. tall roll up door and a pedestrian entrance would run... Well, On the way home I get a call from him. Guy said he would have to see how much excavation would need to be done, but he was thinking he could do the footers, slab, and all the block work for $14,000. I've already had prices double that much!

Looks like I'll have this little project start within the next two weeks... The porsche/viper/somethingreallyfast will have to wait...

GOOD LUCK!! I had ESTIMATES from $49,000-195,000 on my garage, I went first class on components and it cost me $140,000, PLUS to build a 36F deep,74f wide 16F tall garage and I did ALL the electric myself.

estimates and true costs vary wildly especially if you want everything done correctly vs dirt cheap

Well let's hope I don't run into that. This same guy just poored 100X150ft. of concrete for my friend Dennis and he only had $10,000 total in the concrete, and that included the cost of the radient flooring.

Hi there

I made a big mitake when i had my garages build. As You know i am from South Africa and we work with metre's not feet. Am I correct in saying 28ft = +- 8.5m .......if so look at the lenth of the garage . Mine is 9m long and it is a big problem to fit 2 E30 BMW's behind each other .they fit but we have to push them in by hand the last bit to toutch the wall and the second one to go against the bumper of the first one. i also have a markV cortina wich cannot fit with one of the BM's in a row

Thank's

Let me comment again, this isn't for the excavation, or the trusses/roof/shingling or electrical. I plan to have about $30,000 total when done, and that is STILL cheap... This is an addition, which eliminates one of the sides, so that eliminates some of the cost too... I'll keep you all posted on actual costs.

This project is an addition onto an existing structure which is already 32 ft. wide. However, We have decided to actually change the construction to wood framing and to add more space. As of now I'm looking at 32X36ft. of additional space added to my 32X28 ft.

Excavation starts weekend after next.
