PUSHER
Moreso looking for 3rd gen camaro experiences, but I'll take both. Mainly looking for handling/suspension ideas not for drag racing. Know of anyones build up webpage? Got pictures of a decent one you saw at autox/lapping event? Are there any racing classes that have these cars? Why is every car I see sky high, not enough suspension travel to lower these? I tried and failed at google because all I can find is 68 camaro build ups and drag racing suspension. Appreciate your time.

David K
I used to have an 89 IROC 5.7 350 and man i miss that thing. Talk about torque and spinning tires on every gear shift, with an automatic.

Jeff
I've got a 4th gen, 1994 Trans Am, that I autocross and do track events with. My suspension set up is actually pretty basic but it gets the job done. I've got a set of springs designed by F-body national champ Sam Strano, Koni single adjustables up front, Bilstein HD's on the rear, a Suspension Techniques 35mm front bar and an Unbalanced Engineering rod ended panhard bar. I've upgraded the front brakes to the LS1 version with Hawk HT-10 pads on the front and Hawk HP Plus on the rear. I've upgraded the power steering pump to a Turn One unit to hold up better during the track days. The LT1 versions are notorious for boiling their fluid. I also run some very sticky 315/35-17 Kumho V710's on all four corners. The best place on the net to research everything I've listed above is the F-body road race & autocross forum. http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/

PUSHER
Appreciate the info guys, its helped a lot. Jeff- How big of a pita is it to work on those? Having half the engine under the dash seems like it'd be a nightmare.
Jeff
Jeff- How big of a pita is it to work on those? Having half the engine under the dash seems like it'd be a nightmare. The motor is a pain to work on. It is very tight under the hood plus like you said the motor is basically under the cowl. The rest of the car is no problem though. They are very fun cars though and really surprise a lot of people. Before I was signed off for solo duty at the track events I had a couple of instructors comment about how well the car handled. The LT1 powered 4th gens can be picked up cheap these days too.
BWRex
The 3rd gen. TPI engines are tucked in there pretty good, but not impossible to work on.The 700r4 trans is practically indestructable. With some minor engine work,a shift kit and a couple bolt ons, they can make some decent low to midrange power. You're gonna need it, because those Fbodies are heavy...3750 lbs is alot of steel to get going....
