RedFive
Sorry, I tried to take these photos with my digital camera, but when I got up there it decided it didn't want to work. So I had to take these with my crappy cell phone camera. What do you guys think...should I change all the chrome to black?

MY77Z
well, i always use my cell phone to take my photos black all the way and congrats on the paint job or should i say '' the painting'' ?
mason4300
I usually like keeping the chrome on Z's, I think it looks better, and everyone always seems to dump black paint all over their cars. However, I think yours will look better blacked out, since it nearly is, anyway. Looks very nice.
RedFive
Ali, Apparently your cell phone is better than mine!! Any suggestions on what to use for the black? I was just thinking rattle can. Will that look okay?
73ZCAR
Take evrything chrome off the car and do it in satin black powdercoat. Looks better and it actually stays on. I did this to my white datsun 510 about 20 years ago, and it looked great. Mike.
Careless
just make sure you take that trim off carefully. I've baked potatoes in bbq grade heavy duty tinfoil that could be doubled up to be a heavier guage than those things. LOL
aziza z
looks nice. black out the trim and call it a day.
RedFive
If I powder coat it, what kind of prep is involved?
texis30O
don't cut corners. you will spend double the time painting and repainting. If you spent good money on paint then at least finish the job the right way. A rattle can will not stick. end of story. by powdercoating you will have a surface that will be a hell of a lot more resiliant to chipping or scratching. RedFive
Nobody knows what kind of prep I need to do??
Ledphoot
Just pull it off and wipe it down with paint thinner or prep solvent. The powder coater will take care of any other prep to get the best finish.. If you decide to paint it you'll need to scrub it with a scuff pad or fine steel wool. Wipe it down with thinner or prep solvent. Spray it with a self etching primer and then Satin black. But no matter how you paint it, it will not hold up like powdercoating.
