BayAreaZT
Any one have any experience with the innovative turbo systems turbine heat shield or any other brand (Garrett, Turbonetics, Treadstone)? I'm looking to pick up a turbo heat shield to lower engine bay temps and would like to know which one is the most efficient for a reasonable price. Any downsides to retaining heat in the turbo housing?
boardkid280z
You could get your turbo exhaust housing thermal coated. From what I understand there are only advantages to retaining heat in the turbo system. (on the hot side that is)

SR240Z
we have this turbo blanket on our sr20 powered car because the turbo sits right next to the brake master cylinder: http://phase2motorsports.stores.yahoo.net/turboblanket.html
BayAreaZT
How is it working out. Does it do a good job keeping the temps down?
SR240Z
no problems that weve encountered... Supposedly there is another turbo blanket from one of the big supra forums that you can put your hand on top of the blanket while full throttle on the dyno? Z-Gad
You can put your hand onto the turbo blanket right after a drag strip pass in my car. I picked mine up second hand on the Supra boards a couple of years ago for around $100. Titan Motorsports sells them as well. rztmartini
how is the durability of the blankets? do they like disintigrate after a x amount of time? I thought that the fiber header wrap needs to be replaced after a while...these look a lot more solid/durable in thier construction.
