car is up and running

Recommended Posts

Ya, its great to finally drive the car, big mistake on going th-350 trans

Congrats :)

dual carbs would look better. don't they?

better yet 4 IDF's!

I really didnt think my 265/35X18 rear tire was going to hookup well with the v8 but it actually does..

finally happy sorta heh

gotta ditch the th-350!!!! freeway is killing me wayyy too many RPM's at 65!! i think at 6k rpm my car does 100 mph maybe

but im a good guesser,

im having a couple problems maybe someone can resolve this:

under full throttle at 4kish oil pukes past the seal on the valve cover breather and onto my passenger header.

Now is this because the breather is a cheap pos which it is or is it even normal for oil to be pumped out like that?

i am running a PCV valve on the drivers side valve cover

and there is no baffle or any sort to stop the oil from spashing upthere?

also i cant tighten the bottom bolt for the dang fuel block off plate, the motor mt. is in the way... might have to ditch the billet anno plate with the socket head cap hex screws and go to the chrome flat metal and hex scres since you can get the open ended wrench in there.

thanks to all of you for your input its really a blessing

The oil out the breather problem has bothered me in the past. Usually with LOGO valve covers, on one side the breather is in the front, and the other side the rear. The rear one always drips. I try to get plain covers and put both breathers forward, which definately helps, but you've alread tried that. They sell grommets with no holes in them. It looks like a rubber cup. Go get one of those, but instead of cutting the bottom off of it, just take a razor blade and put a few X slits in the bottom of it. It will allow gas pressure through, but little or no oil. This is the only thing that seems to work, short of venting it into a catch can or the header collectors.

Every engine makes pressure in the crankcase, regardless of the condition....worn out ones make more pressure. When I build motors, I always put the rings in dry....and they generally seat within about 5 minutes of running the engine. I always have to make some type of baffle for the breathers, if one isn't already in place.

ahh good to know... i figured the rings seat within the first heat cycle... my dad had me worried saying "thats blow-by and beacuse you arent letting the rings seat"
