i'm going to be rebuilding the motor, my end goal is to add a intercooler, blow off valve, external wastegate, and boost a little higher. how much boost can i run with this setup? i think its boosting 7psi stock correct? but i know these motors can handle more than that, but with the stock turbo what would be safe?

it depends on the IC you use, the injectors you have the ecu you have and the fuel pump you have and the spark controll (i.e. dizzy, or EDIS) but the stock t3 turbo will put out about a max of 15 psi efficiantly.

with the IC and enough fuel you should be able to get 12 or 13 psi no problem.

Hope that helped

ok as of now my car is all stock, except for suspension. so the ecu, injectors, fuel pump is all stock, and i'm gonna run a spearco IC. so 12-13 psi will be alright? i'm gonna drive about 50 miles a week, and drag strip once in awhile, when all the friends take their cars down to sac raceway.

here's a dynosheet from bastaad's old car (i believe he sold it). It's a pretty nice dyno sheet as he's over 200 wheel hp from 3.5-6k rpm. Nice and broad HP curve at 12 psi.

This was at 12 psi with an intercooler, BOV, boost controller, and a rising rate FPR so he could adujust the fuel pressure.

He made 233 hp on that dyno with 303 torque. Not bad if you ask me. That should be able to keep up with a stock 300ZXTT if you ask me, because that TT is 280 fly hp, so you two would be putting down about the same amount of HP to the wheels, and your 280ZX is lighter.

Would do be able to control the boost and lower it down when you dont want all the power and get a little better mileage. If Im correct MSA sold a manual boost controll that raises the boost up to about 10 psi. Would something like that work?

Stock 300ZX TT = Easykill

if i'm boosting 12 psi you think it will be an easy kill? like if we were doing 1/4 mile runs how much do you think i should win by?

Racing just isn't that easy to predict. I've beaten guys in faster cars several times, even in straight line racing.

And I don't really like doing all of the work so here's the numbers and you can figure it out for yourself.

300ZX tt wegith = 3299 (according to nissan spec for the NA)

300ZX tt HP = 280 (fly)

280ZX weight = 2825 (nissan spec again)

280ZX HP = 260 fly (should be easy to reach at 12 psi if you're not breaking anything)

That's all the information you really need as far as how fast it will be compared to a 300ZX tt.
