dragbike slicks

hey i was thinking about setting up a stock set of wheels with drag bike tires and my good wheels with good road tires. anyone ever try this? I think his name was derek....i saw his sight a while back and he was running 9s or something with a stock looking z on bike slicks . it was a serious sleeper. even had a gn motor in it . any thoughts.... and where can you order them from? :confused:

That is Derek Grubb. Best to date that I know is 10.59 @ 130+ with a 1.49 60'. Do not know if those were all in the same run. Typically they are not. The tires are Phoenix and are about 6.5" wide but that is all I know. He occasionally posts here.

I would be hesitant to use motorcyle slicks as my guess is they wouldn't have the weight capacity for a car. When I've raced my bike, I haven't seen any bikes with slicks that look like that, and typically pro stock style drag bikes used car slicks. I don't know if that is still the case. That brown car is cool. I remember seeing it at some other sites on the 'net several years ago.

they are motorcycle slicks. phoenix bought out firestone. they are 26 X 15 X 6W they come in different compounds and different sizes this is my third set, and i have over 800 passes on my car now. sure it gets squirley at 130, but what wouldn't best 60 foot is 1.44 currently i am not running tubes, but i should be. they leak down. thanks to the photographer, nice pic.!!!

hey darek hows it going.... i emailed you a couple of years ago about your car when i was in japan before i did my rb swap. I still toss around the gn motor swap if for some reason i cant get back to japan (for parts) 2thumbs.gif
