I was at the local pick a part and noticed a 1989 200sx and looked at it's rear and it has a

"finned" alum cover. Is that a give away for a LSD or do all the 200sx's have the finned cover.

Is it a R200 also... looked like it had CV's but I did not think about the LSD when I was there.

I was in a rush looking for a Vacuum booster.

The trans was gone but I think it was a stick.

Thanks.

Dave

I stumbled across a complete Nissan IRS with a LSD and it appears to be a 3.90. My rough measurement is less than 60" hub-to-hub. Have not asked about price but I am sure it would be very reasonable.

Anyone interested? I do not know the difference between a non-Z R200 and a R230, but I have never seen a diff like it before. The CVs look very beefy. I will take a pic and post it.

Scottie,

If possible, I would REALLY like to have the inner CV units from one of those R230s (ie 2 CVs). Don't need the shafts. The CV come of very easily...just a wire clip in the housing, then a C clip on the shaft once you pull the knuckle out of the housing...any chances?

BTW..those look like units from Infinity J30s.

Thanks

Tim

BTW #2: I have a picture of a R230 from a Q45 with shafts on my site if anyone ever needs a reference.

in my opinion that r200 of a g30 or 240sx .the r230 don't have nuts to bolt the inside joint{the joint has the tread for it.

That look like a new style R200 out of a 240sx ot a S32 z. Based on the subframe I would say 240Sx.

If they are a LSD it would be a viscous lsd. :D When testing for a LSD by turning the axles a viscous lsd axles will turn independently it just is very hard to turn to turn them. A open carriers axles will turn easly. I had a junk yard guy say one was not a LSD because I could turn and he sold it cheaper. He just didn't know how hard I was turning it.

Checking in from the Big Apple. Cannot stay away for more than a day :D

So, what is it? I obviously do not need it but if others did, I would get it and part it out. The owner cannot remember what it came out of but I can get it fairly "cheap". Will say one thing, it is from a fairly new car because it is clean as a whistle. It is an LSD and my guess is 3.90:1. He wants to get rid of the entire unit and unless I can move the diff, no point in me picking it and getting stuck with it.

I will be back 6/19 so if we can clearly identify it and someone wants the LSD, I will get it and part it out.
