LLave
I just picked up a Linde PWM-9 plasma needle arc welder. It has all types of bells and whistles. I have no idea how to use it or if it is worth a damn. Anyone have any experience with these machines?
dr_hunt
No, not typically used, similar to a tig, better penetration I think I remember hearing about. Isn't the torch bigger than a tig?
SHO-Z
I didn't know that they made such an animal! Here is some info on Plasma arc welding, it is a good read. http://www.makinamuhendisi.com/mechanical/mechanical-engineering-archives/376-Plasma-Arc-welding.html
LLave
The torch is actually tig sized. The machine I have has a very nice water cooling system built in. Apparently they are very popular in the aerospace industry because they can weld all types of exotic metals. They also have the ability to weld very very thin materials. Like tin foil... My machine will only go up to about 1/8th inch. I payed $300 for it but now I don't know if I want to keep it or sell it and buy a new TIG.
