hoov100
ok, i have a z31 turbo oil pan that suffered me doing 8k RPM with 6 pounds of oil pressure (motor had a knock to begin with) and so i chunkified a few pistons and rods and ended up with a bunch small metal shavings in the bottom of the pan. now would it be ok to hose out/pressure wash the oil pan to remove all of those little chucks? or do i need to spend a couple hours cleaning it out by hand? nismopu
long as you let it completely dry it shouldnt hurt anything. peace.
SilentNight1647
Dude when we rebuild a motor the pan (as long it's not aluminum) goes straight into the hot tank and it sits their for a day soaking in alkali and then gets pressured washed so you aren't going to hurt it by pressure washing it spray it with some brake clean after you wash it out to help displace the water and make it dry faster. Careless
what's everyone's opinion on repainting an oil pan? they come with a black coating from factory, most of the time. What do you do for the hidden areas inside? (other than the obvious two; cut, or fab a custom aluminum one)
76s30
I always just Media blasted them clean inside and out put them in the auto parts washer for a few hours and blow them out. paint the out side and thats it. My oil filter gets enough stuff in it it doesn't need paint flakes too.
Sparky
I always just paint the outside, Considering that its going to be full of sloshing oil...I dont thing rust will be a problem.
hoov100
rust is the absolute last thing you even have to look for down here, if your car came from here anyway, there used to be a datsun dealership over here, now its a carpet store...
