My lines (stainless steel) have been on order for over a month, and they are still held up by the funky no-nose metric ends that the datsun needs. I just talked to classic tube, and they said there is another z-car guy waiting as well. (anybody here?) Does www.inlinetube.com carry deal with datsuns? Thier website only lists domestic stuff. Please don't advise me to make them myself, since I really don't have the time/tools nor the patience to make the double flares and correct bends in stainless. pparaska Posted August 19, 2002 Share Posted August 19, 2002 Just make sure you get a really good flaring tool. The $60 one that Eastwood, etc. sells is NOT what you want. My experience is that there are quite a few places in the distribution blocks, etc. that won't allow good thread engagement with the "nosed" fittings that ClassicTube has. Get the non-nosed fittings. Mine is the $10 one from Harbor Freight It works fine but after watching a video on tubing, I discovered that I wasn't getting the double inverted flare, just a single one. They make excellent products and if the don't have it, the will duplicate your lines you can send them. This is a great route if you don't want to fab yourself. pparaska Posted August 20, 2002 Share Posted August 20, 2002 Well, I saw a nice one in a shop that makes hydraulic lines, etc. It was over $100, but it indexes the tool and tubing so that the flare is always symmetric, which the cheap ones don't do. You can just buy lines made to a specific length, with the flare nuts installed with machine made flares. That's what I did with Classic Tube. Then I found out about the "nose" on the nut, so some ones I bought later to fix a design change in my system were ordered with the nose cut off the fitting. They said they (Classic Tube) can't source 10mmx1mm flare nuts without the nose, so they have to turn them off in a lathe - which they charge you for.
