SBC_400
if the 72-76 part has a 7/8 th bore, is that bigger or smaller than the one on my 71. And could that cause a problem with my wheel cylinders, could that produce too much pressure and blow the seals?
blueovalz
All the Z brake MC bores were of 7/8" size. They will all interchange.

SBC_400
I just talked to a woman at victoria british, and she said from what she could tell, the difference in the MC for the 71 and the 72 was that it seemed to be turned 180 deg, that the different parts seemed to be on oposit sides, is this correct, or were the pictures she was looking at just taken from different angles? but I guess from what terry said, this wont make a difference. Sam280Z
I think Nissan reversed the front and rear circuits around 72. You can use the later MC, but if they are reversed you will want to swap the brake lines front to rear. Just make sure the brake lines that lead to to the front brakes go under the reservoir with the larger capacity... Sam
SBC_400
does any one know if the Master Cylinder for a 72-76 z with a 7/8 th bore will work on a a 71 240 with the original booster? scott
Mike kZ
Same bolt pattern up 'till '
zcarnut
The push rod that extends from the 1970 and 1971 brake booster and activates the master is a different length (it is shorter) than the later boosters. As a result, the '70 and '71 master cylinders are different than the later ones. Now you can use the later master cylinders on the 1970 and '71 boosters but you must swap out and use the later booster push rod. Just be sure to adjust it correctly.
