JustinOlson
I was driving my car over to my friends tonight. On the drive there the headlights worked fine. When I was ready to leave the headlights wouldn't turn on. The tail lights and driving lights worked fine. Just the headlights wouldn't turn on. I turned the car off and went in side. Came back out to try and figure it out. The car starts right up and the lights work... WTF??? Anyone have some insite. I've got a 77 280z with the factory wiring. Regards, Justin

Regards, Justin I had the same problem before, I think it might either be in the headlight wiring or probably in the actual switch. They are a common nuisance. I ended up just wiring my headlights into a switch on the on center console under the radio.
Pop N Wood
The headlight switch carries the full current of the headlights. When the contacts get corroded, the headlights get intermittent like you are seeing. Not saying this is 100% the cause of your problems, but it is the most likely cause. Pull the switch apart and take a piece emery paper to all the copper contacts. Then go downt the headlight wires and clean up all the connectors. Then do yourself a huge favor and upgrade to headlight relays. This will take the current out of the column switch and let things live much longer. http://alteredz.com/Headlight_Relay_pg1.htm
m1noel
I would also check the connections in the passenger side footwell near the console. They are particularly prone to corrosion because if you've ever had a leak in your heating system, thats where it drips. Mike
mario_82_ZXT
When mine won't turn on I just mess with the fusable links and try again. Usually does the trick, I need to clean and solder them to the spade connectors... Mario
