JustinOlson
I figure the best way to run a huge turbo on a L28 is to put it on the passenger side and run the header under the oil pan and up to the passenger side. Once I remote mount the battery I'm going to have a 5" side dump with muffer: Also heres a picture of the TH400 with ultrabell waiting to be installed. Happy Holidays, Justin Olson
CamH
Cool, what are the power goals, and what do you expect it to spool at?
MJLamberson
hope you like lots of lag
Challenger
So what is the backing for this?
mario_82_ZXT
Wouldn't that heat up your oil way too much? Also are you being serious? Aren't those parts for your JZ swap? =P Mario
Vintage
Pretty sure he's just showing an idea, seems pretty serious about the 2JZ swap. I would think it would be better to use an electric fan and route the header around the front of the valve cover if you wanted to put it on that side. JustinOlson
Yeah this is all the stuff for the 2JZ. I'm tempted to build a turbo manifold and mount the turbo on the L28. Would be funny to try it out I honestly don't think it would overheat the oil if you wrapped the tubing. Justin
Challenger
I dont think hes joking. He made a bracket, and bought a muffler.
LamboZ
I dont think hes joking. He made a bracket, and bought a muffler. 99% sure thats not a bracket for the turbo, thats his strut tower brace.
JustinOlson
Yeah, I just sat the turbo on the strut tower brace to get some pictures so I could eyeball where I can and can't place the waste gates and turbo routing. I think this thing will actual fit pretty nicely once I get the 2JZ in there as I will mount it vertically instead of at an angle like the L28. Heres the turbo manifold rendering I was working on. I am going to have to yank apart the 2JZ motor I bought. Looks like the intake valves are bent. I guess you never know what your going to get when you buy used parts from a person on craiglist Justin
Vintage
You have got me thinking that wrapping the header around the front of the engine would allow you to fit a turbo right nice where the Evap container is.
Challenger
99% sure thats not a bracket for the turbo, thats his strut tower brace. Ahhhhh, when you look at the picture it lines up almost perfect.

Ivan280zt
Nice you will have fun running five inch piping! What are the specs on your turbo?
JustinOlson
The turbo is a Borg Warner S480. It has a 80mm compressor wheel that is good for 1250hp. The turbine housing is a T6 divided. It should be plenty for as much power as I'll ever make. Justin
OlderThanMe
When do you expect that puppy to spool on the 2jz 3 liter? I'm looking at a slightly smaller turbo for my 4.5 liter...LOL
JustinOlson
Should spool and make 30+psi at 5500-6000rpm. Justin
OlderThanMe
hmm... And you can play until 8000rpm right? WOW
JustinOlson
Should make power until 9500-10000 with the right valve train and rods. I won't be reving it that high though. I'm looking at shift around 8500 for reliability. Justin
240Z_478
Looks Great Justin! We are actually almost in the same boat I am going for the fender exit Single turbo JZ as well. Only difference I think I may go with the R154 and my turbo wont be quite as big.
