zdrift
ok so im new to the hybrid z thing but i have been woeking on z's for a little over two years now and havent had any problems and after owning 9 z's i never thought about EFI, but i thought it would be a great conversion and chance to take in getting my feet wet, so i did it i put a l28et long block in my 1972 240z but with the EFI system out of a 1980 280zx so i went and tryed to do the wiring on my own with out the aid of a wiring diagram/ scamatic, and faild but now i got the diagram/ scamatic and the computer comes on the car turns over but no gas is coming out of the injectors??? and i know i got spark, so heres the thing i hooked up every thing on the scamatic that i need for the motor but there are two things that i dont know about one is called a inhibitor sitch and there is a relay that goes with it and the other is a condensier, i dont know but the inhibitor relay and switch are suppose to be for a/t and mine came out of a 5-speed, the condensier is for some part of the distrubitor, i dont know why the injectors are not firing but as i kno the computer has to reconize that the car is trying to start and then it will send a signal for the injectors to send fuel. So i have these new things that i bought injectors, the condensier, and droping risistors for the injectors, i havent installed them because i would like some input on this from ppl who have experience doing this or have done it, so please help me get my white baby running again!!!! thanks redevil-z
MJLamberson
there is great FAQ about this on hybridz.... anyways, are you getting fuel TO the injectors? now, do the injectors have power going to them?
zdrift
yes they are reading ohms, four of them are reading between 8 and 9 and two of them are reading 14 and 11, do think there is something wrong with that? or could it be that the condenser is not hooked up or dropping resistors are fried? number 6 injector is the only one firing. MJLamberson
if all injectors are getting power but only one is firing maybe the others are bad/clogged... also, clean ALL of the electrical connections in the engine bay. Did you find that FAQ yet?
jknc90
the inhibitor switch basically tells the computer what gear the auto tranny is in. What kind of fuel pressure are you getting? Fuel injection takes more than carburetion.
83zed owner
are the injector's new??
zdrift
ya the ones on the car are not new i have new ones, i have not found that FAQ. ill try to clean all the electrical connections, but i think it might be the computer, what else would you recomend, also the fuel pump is right by the motor cause i kno the mechanical fuel pump wont hold the pressure for EFI. im gonna change the injectors, and fuel pressure regulator, but would you think it would be alot of vaccum leaks cause im just trying to get the car to fire-up, so the vaccum lines are disconected? ive tryed alot of things, does any one kno how much pressure the injectors need?
