twinturbos
After stripping my interior, i noticed that there was old dynamat placed around the shifter on back. They dynamat bubbled up, so i was wondering if there was a chemical or tool that could remove the old dynamat. if not, is it ok to place a new sheet of dynamat over the old? BillZ260
It is probably easiest to try and peel or chip it off when it's cold out. When it's warm or hot, it's just going to be soft and will make a mess. You might try contacting Dynamat tech.
CArFAn
People have used dry ice in zip loc bags. Give it a try if its available.
twinturbos
i was chiseling away at it for a while when its cold, but its too time consuming and upon removing a portion of it, i notice there was a gunky glue build up. got in touch with a dynamat rep, he says short of using acetone or a paint remover, you cant really get it off there. on the bright side, he did say that its ok to put another layer of dynamat over it. im probably gunna use a grinder to smooth out rough dynamat and place another layer over. BillZ260
If you do that, clean everything, and use a heat gun on the first layer when you smooth it out, and again on the 2nd layer.
Armand
It probably is not the dynomat but the original insulation. When I stripped my interior to put my fatmat(cheaper version of dynomat), I chipped away all the stock insulation. But that stock insulation was filled with bubbles everywhere. So it might be that?
