fhptom
Hate to be another stick in the mud but like Sho-Z said you have given the law a reason to pull you now. Just last night pulled a guy over just as he was leaving work at 1AM( burger joint). He forgot to turn his lights on. He got out of his car and stuck his hands out and said "I don't have a license, are you going to take me to jail". Had 9 suspensions on an ID only. I did not even have to try hard and got that one. If you are going to tempt fate make sure you have all your ducks in a row as they say. And do not get upset if you get a ticket for something you know you did wrong. By the way your car is really looking good. I would pull you over just to talk to you about your car. Tom

Tom Yeah I know, what I am going to do is get historical plates and also have the parking lights on at all time. Since I redid all my wiring, I have the parking liights automaticly on at all times. It's like new cars that have the auto light option.
Bartman
... By the way your car is really looking good. I would pull you over just to talk to you about your car. Tom Now the meaning of "fhptom" seems pretty clear to me. I don't know if the smoked lights would work with my plans, but it sounds like it could cause unneeded attention that I don't really want to attract. Globerunner513
Dude, with any other car, I'd say it wouldn't look quite right... But with yours, I can't imagine anything else now! Really pulled that off nicely. And good call with the parking lights.
ShaggyZ
Yeah I know, what I am going to do is get historical plates and also have the parking lights on at all time. Since I redid all my wiring, I have the parking liights automaticly on at all times. It's like new cars that have the auto light option. FYI - in Texas, last I checked it is illegal to drive around with only your PARKING lights on. I doubt it's something you'll actually get ticketed for here, but it is i the law. It probably is in place because it's to indicate the car is parked and suddenly it's moving or something to that effect.
capt_furious
I used Monogram Clear Tint model paint on my reverse lights just to help them blend into the rear panel(I don't really like the look of the stock 260 / 280 reverse lights, they seem incongrous with the rest of the lighting array). No need for sanding or mixing, just clean and spray. I did wet sand and polish the lenses just to clean them up from 30+ years of age and remove the dot lettering to give them a slicker look. Here's the post outlining the whole tail panel cleanup process. The Monogram Clear Tint is cheap, goes on easily, doesn't require any special prep, and doesn't wear off even when the car is stored outside. It actually adds a little glossiness to the surface it's applied to. If you tint your taillight lenses, make sure you're able to give them a thorough cleaning inside and out, because you'll be drastically reducing their output. Clean the lenses, clean and polish the reflectors, and buy high-quality long life bulbs or switch to some well-designed LED units that throw light to the sides as well as straight out. I'd recommend masking off the stock reflector area or only applying one coat to them(see previous safety / law warnings). One quick coat gives a little tint, and progressively darkens as you add coats. Let it dry between coats and be careful to avoid runs or spatter. Guest skimattybee
what i usually do when i smoke tail lights is add a little jet black paint to some clearcoat and just spray the clear, it comes out nice and shiny
