I know what the condensor is but not understanding what the transistor is and what its purpose is, or even if I am supposed to have one in my 82zxt anyone have a description and/or picture? It is used to prevent backfeeding the ignition when converting to an internal regulated alternator in the early s30's. Search for alternator conversions or upgrades to read more. Most any power transistor in a TO3 can would probably work. seems like someone of the many folks doing this would have found that out by now.
