I just scored a set of 2008 Z06 rims for my Z. The fronts are 18" X 8.5" and the rears are 19" x 12". They are made by Speedline in Italy adn weigh only 27lbs for the rears. The Tires will be front 285/35R18's and rear 345/30R19's I was going with 17's but the tire choices are slim for 335/35R17's. The over all diameter is only 1" difference and I now have several tire choices. Of course none of them are cheap. This will also allow me to run the bigger C6 Z06 brakes or comperable. The main part is I will be able to get back to work on the Z. Now that I have rims and tires I can finish the body work on the flares. I'll post some mock up pics soon.

I have been trying to figure out a way of doing this also.

I have a C5 and belong to a local C5 (Corvette club) here in Georiga. There are a few aftermarket companies that make vette wheels (C5 & C6) in very wide sizes and you can get a complete set shipped for less than $1200 !!!. Are you going to change your bolt pattern/hub to adjust for the positive off set and chevy bolt pattern?

To respond to both of you guys:

Dudeboy

I have C4 suspension front & rear so the bolt pattern is no issue. I do however need a 2.5" wheel adapter to allow for the positive backspacing. This is not a spacer ( ie flat plate) but an adapter that you bolt onto the hub and has a set of lugs that the wheel bolts onto. Bothe the inside and outside are also hubcentric.

Believe it or not i'll only be flaring my car 3-3.5" to clear those tires. I narrowed the C4 suspension 4" per side to allow large rubber without the need for huge flares. It will however be noticibley wider than stock. So I guess I'm in the larger than average bottom club. This should also solve some traction issues I was having.

We need to see some pic's of your car, especially when you get the wheels installed. I went to picturetrail, but there wasn't much there.

There shouldn't be any problem getting the fronts to fit as I'm running the same size on mine. Like you said, the rears shouldn't need too much as far as flares go if you install them as far inward as possible. It should look good.

There are several alblums on the picturetrail account. I had to password protect one of them till my car gets further along. But here are some of the early mock ups with smaller 315's
I looked at your Corvette Suspension album and Holy Cr*p that's some major fabrication there. Keep up the good work and keep us updated on your progress.

You're going to run a 285 on a 8.5" rim?

Thanks Mike I'm still around and the project should be moving along this summer. as for the front tires I am running 18 x 10" rims up front. I was going with 18 8.5 but found the 18 X 10's were availible.

Wow your fabrication is amazing. Probably the most I have ever saw done to a Z.

I missed this thread until now. Glad to see you're back at it Rick and the mock up of the bodywork looks great.:icon14: I haven't touched mine since November so it's just sitting in the garage right now.

I keep spending time and money on the Trans Am, it's more fun since it actually drives. I'll be in Gainesville on Sunday running the road course with the Martin Sports Car Club. Come out if you get a moment.
