Slammed68
:mrgreen: Say goodbye to that 31 year old Right side axle U-joint!! Best was an 8.3 @ 84mph, that was leaving like a granny, spinning through most of second and not focusing on shifting... Its going back up on jackstands, and getting coilovers, illuminas, sectioning struts, camber plates, new axle, installing the Walbro, re-shooting the paint because of some bad spots that arised after paint, cleaning up and possibly painting the engine bay, lots of stuff to come in the future.. Heres a vid of me vs an 07 STi
rudypoochris
Which Illumina are you going to use if your sectioning the strut? Were you able to weigh it? Looks like it rides high in the front. Sorry about your axle! Cool car.
deja
Oh man, that sucks. The disappointment in your camera woman's voice is classic. Build it up again and get some CV axels.
Blown77Z
What 60ft time did you cut on your 8.3 run? I'm afraid my axle(s) will do the same thing...
Slammed68
2.2 60 foot... I was leaving from idle and not flooring it through first, the run where I broke it, I went like a granny and then punched it and it caught traction, slammed it into 2nd and bang. Broke... Here are most of my runs that night.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tw6wc9rNp3U
DavyZ
You did very well against all except the rail dragster! Too bad about the carnage, but I'm sure you'll fix it soon. Nice runs though... Davy
Slammed68
It will be a while, but it will come back out ready next time lol..
TONY C
just to let you know. I got the axels and the conpanion flanges in the for sale section. Sorry to hear about the brake. Nice car tho!
Phantom
Dude, Did the same thing myself my first time out here in Washington. Broke the drivers side half-shaft universal which then proceeded to tear out the brake line, rip out the e-brake cable, and the beat the h*** out of the caliper. Good thing it happened on the 1-2 shift and not the 3-4.
Slammed68
Yeah, I dont think any other shift would have done it, the launch probably wasn't turning it fast enough to put major strains on it, but the 1-2 shift with the stock suspension and blown right rear strut... it squats excessively. the 2-3 shift I doubt would make it squat near as hard.
