To day I picked up a n42 head with a rebuild tag on it . This head clearly reads n42 but has round exhust ports and the port walls are square .Has any one ever come across one of these heads? what is it from ? I took some pics but I am having trouble down loading them , so pics will have to wait till my wife comes home.

Shame that the actual pictures of the ports are blurry. :(

This head will need a lot of work (welding) if your ever going to consider using it...check the water ports!

Never seen a round exhaust port N42. I'm a little suspicious that someone has reworked them for some reason and attempted to make them round but it's hard to really tell. Post some better pictures please so we can all have a better look.

Cheers.

Looks like it was modified in the same way as the N42 Veritech-Z has was modified.

By the way, there's no way these came from the factory like this. The only time the L series exhaust ports were round were for the liners, and neither of these have liners. It just looks like someone welded them up and cut them circularly.

That head = dead meat.

Anyway Veritech-Z had an N42 that had the same treatment to the exhaust ports.

Look in the sticky thread here in the L6 forum titled: "L6 cylinder head pics and descriptions" or something like that...

*edit*

Crap.. X64v had the jump on me.... LOL

Hey! Great minds think alike!

I know this head is crap but i had to have it to find out what it was or what has been done to it and why? Here are some more pics as clear as I can get with my point and shoot . In the last pic you can see a hanger that has been welded on .
