Twentyfourouncer
Purchased a complete SDS system (advertised as from a running turbo zcar) a couple of months back and just now got around to taking a REALLY close look at it, and I have some concerns about the crank damper. It appears to have seen some rough duty and I am hoping to get some opinions as to whether or not it is useable. Keyway looks pretty rough and there appears to be a crack as well. Any knowledgeable opinions are welcome. Thanks.
Nigel
Yikes! It looks like it cracked and then was welded, only to crack again. And it looks like the weld was ground or filed down, not turned on a lathe. No way on earth would I put that on my engine! No sense risking crank damage... BTW, it's either dampENer or damper. A case can be made for either, but dampNer is a spelling mistake as best as I can tell. Nigel '73 240ZT
dr_hunt
I agree, it is toast. Not just crank damage, but radiator damage as well. Do not use that under any circumstances.
