Guest GPanarotto
Question: Is there ANY, and I mean ANY difference between a 5 speed manual transmision from an 82 280ZX two seater coupe, and an 82 280ZX 2+2 car? Have gotten conflicting and incomplete information so far. Thanks, G. Panarotto
woldson
What information have you found so far?
Six_Shooter
All information I have found says they are the same. The only differece in drivetrain between a coupe and 2+2 that I have found is the length of the driveshaft.
Hyuri
Far as I know the only differences were the clutch diameter and driveshaft, i.e. external stuff. The '82 FSM I have (xenons130.com) kinda backs this up, as it only lists the FS5W71B manual transmission, and only one set of specs (gear ratios, tooth counts, clearances, etc.) for it. roger.svoboda
transmissions are the same as noted the driveshaft length is different and the 2+2 had the 240 mm clutch (a good thing). If you are swapping the tranny might as well go with the 240 mm clutch if you can get the flywheel. if not then tranny drops in.
xenonxiii
http://www.xenons130.com/Transmissions.html There were only 4 manual transmission used in the s130. Like stated above the only differences between 2 seat and 2+2 models is the driveshaft length.
luvmy280zxt
I pulled my 5 speed from a 79 zx 2x2 and installed it in my 81 zxt. Drive shaft length was the only differance, oh and speedo plug. Man It was a bitch to find a used one in good shape. LOL
ZXT_bean
in my experience, i have a 80' n/a car, and used a 81' turbo tranny. the differences were the input shaft spline count, and the rear pinion flange bolt pattern. so i just swapped the rear flange and had no issues..
