NCZZZ
This Australian company manufactures (or so I assume) an ATB LSD to fit in the R180 for $850. Can be seen here: http://members.optushome.com.au/amaxeng/five10/diff.htm Anyone heard of this?
woldson
WOWOWOW. Hope some of the diff gurus around here chime in! Great find. Unbelievable price.
johnc
At least here in the US its an unknown. It requires the 115mm ID ring gear which is fairly easy to find in automatic 280Zs, auto 280ZXs, the front diffs on 720 pickups, early Maximas, etc. That size ring gear is also still available in very limited ratios from Nissan Motorsports. COmputoman
John C is that also the same for an auto late 260? Ben
johnc
Maybe. Look at the top of the differential housing and see if there's a large K on it. That denotes the later, larger ID ring gear.
thehelix112
That website has been around for a very long time. I wouldn't be surprised if it was last updated when the USD was twice the AUD, I may be wrong, but I wouldn't expect them to honour that price if I were you. kiwi303
the "View Page Info" in Firefox says it was last updated in 2001... "Thursday, 11 October 2001 12:51:15 AM"
NCZZZ
I received a reply from AMAX Eng. The cost is now $1200 + $125 Air Freight. Knew it was too good to be true. He says they have sold 147 units with no complaints in performance. It would be a tricky situation if there were any problems -- Australia. 260DET
They are a good thing, basically the internals are made for a Porsche application and widely sold in the US as such. The business owner however made a R180 one specially for his Datsun race car, the only trick is that the outputs are splined for Datsun (720?) truck stub axles.
