Tony D Posted September 23, 2008 Share Posted September 23, 2008 The shutoff breaks the circuit to the source of power most likely to cause problems after a shunt...in most cases this is the battery. Sanctioning bodies have their reqirements, and if you are going to compete, follow their notations to the letter. Most cars will not function properly with a simple disconnect switch on the positive alone, it will require a secondary set of contacts to disconnect the alternator.For storage purposes, maintenance disconnect or 'theft provention' either would likely work as well.
