atomflatz
Anybody have any idea what type of flares these are? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/New-1970-74-Datsun-240-260Z-Rear-Fiberglass-Flares_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a1234Q7c66Q3a2Q7c65Q3a12Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1318QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem270292351630QQitemZ270292351630
DavyZ
They look like what were/are known as "bubble flares" to me. Decent starting price. Davy
atomflatz
Thanks. The thing that is throwing me is how there is all that extra fiberglass surrounding the actual flare part. I have only seen that done on the Reaction Research YZ kit.
Dudeboy
They are similar to those "Showcar...." I want give him a plug sells. The 240z bumper indentations are there, just as DavyZ pointed out there are the bubble type street flares.
JMortensen
I've never seen the Jim Cook flares in person, but they look kinda like that to me. Less convex than the MSA or MAS street flares.
Roostmonkey
Those look alot like these. I dont know what type they are ( Jim Cook, showcars etc).
atomflatz
Yes, those pictures are the same as the flares in question. Thanks for the help guys. Further searching verified that the flares being auctioned are the Jim Cook Racing flares, or a similar knock off.
DavyZ
Hey, they look pretty cool on that orange Z. Too bad the front ones aren't on there too. Did you buy all four or just the rears like on the orange Z? Davy
bobbyc
jim cook as already mentioned...i'm sportin them in the rear....no pics....what i really like is they don't require a front flare...the swoop of the rear with the edge looks to me to be an exagerated form of the stock lip on the front fender. i'm gonna get a pic...still a major work in progress still a major WIP...and surprisingly....the wheels don't hit the flares....i haven't driven it...but i have stood in the back of the hatch and jumped (230lbs)....i know the forces while driving will be greater...but still promising. Challenger
I wonder how ricey these would look if they were to be painted and riveted to the rear...
RB26powered74zcar
I like the wheels BobbyC. What are they
Challenger
Arent those the group buy rotas?
atomflatz
I only needed rears for three reasons: I replaced my bent up front fenders with fiberglass units that already had a slight flare to them. Only my rear wheels are sticking out past the fender lip. My rear fender lips have holes rotted through them. Challenger, I was also wondering how the flares would look painted and riveted without bonding, might go good with my olive drab paint, hmm.............
