Young Z
L28et is the most straight forward and you can attain 300 hp with bolt ons. If you search then you'd get some good info on each of these swaps.
Edz280zx
I would say the choices from easiest to most difficult would be: L28ET Chevy Ford SR The cheapest to get 300 at the wheels: Chevy Ford L28 SR.........Notice I said "cheapest" This is just my opinion so flame away:mrgreen:
jeffer949
I dont see how doing a v8 swap is going to be cheaper than bolting a l28et swap to get 300 hp. you can get 300hp out of a l28et really easy. I think i figured it out to be under 2k for everything. Obviously thats you doing all your own work.
estrada42
Has any gotten a VQ35 running in an S130 yet? It's probably a great engine for this car.
Gostlrs
ya someone else mentioned that before, i can get a Q45 for less then 2000 but i do not think anyone has messed with that enough to be able to do it myself with out some how to's
estrada42
Not the 4.5L V8 from the Q45, the 3.5 V6 from the 350z/G35/Altima. Or maybe the 4.0 V6 from the Pathfinder.
Niku-Sama
i'd stick to nissan/datsun engines. RB VQ VGxxDE. i personally would like a VG33ER for xmas
Gostlrs
how hard it it to swap a 300zx turbo engine into a 280zx?
Comrade_Charlie
Doing the 300zx ecu swap is fairly easy(for the l28), and if you do that for the l28 I dont see why it wouldnt work for the 300zx, if you swap over the connectors, but I could be wrong. and a z32 trans pretty much bolts up to stock mounts( and can be made to work on a vg30e fairly easy). and if you can make your own motor mounts then all you would need is a custom driveshaft. PETEW
how hard it it to swap a 300zx turbo engine into a 280zx? There is someone using a 300zx turbo motor in a 280Z on here, I believe. But this is not a common swap (in a Z or ZX), so you would have to fab up stuff yourself. This would not be a bolt in situation. The 280zx turbo motor would be by far the easiest to do. The other nice thing is you can add things as you go and make more and more power. There are guys on here getting close to the 400RWHP mark with stock rebuild type motors (cast pistons and all), just bigger turbos, injectors, fuel management. Good luck with what you choose. Gostlrs
i am surprised there are not many z31 and z32 swaps
Abel
yeah dont quote me on this but im guessing doing a z31 or z32 swap cost about the same and requires the same amount of work as doing an rb/sr/or vg swap?? idk dont quote me!
