Mobious5
ommm, i need some help. latey when i've gone to drive my 82 280zx its been doing fine as far as trans not slipping and everything. But when i go to put the car in reverse the rear end feels like it's about to tear out of the car. And it makes this huge "clunk" sound right when the gear is engaged. Can someone please tell me whats going on and how to fix it. Im hoping this is common bc i used to have an 83 and it did the same thing till i got rid of it. MJLamberson
Have you checked the oil in it?
Zdigg
my 260 does the same thing, I'm not really sure whats up with it, but its gone 6,000 miles in my possession and hasn't died yet, i think its bad support on the mustash bar for the diff, but who knows... aziza z
Sounds like the front differential mount. The chances of your "Rear end Rippin out" is slim to none. Even with a bad front mount. The actual design will not "Rip out". http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=127073&highlight=diff+clunk http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=124328&highlight=diff+clunk http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=124410&highlight=diff+clunk http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=116288&highlight=diff+clunk

woldson
My 82 and 83 did it too. On my 82 it was U-joints in the half shafts. I have not check my 83 yet. Ethier way I some times wait till some things get bad so it is easier to find;)
