aziza z
Hey people. Just picked up these amazing seats for the ls powered car. Yes they are ugly and will need to be reupholstered but they are worth it to me because of the fit (hoping to find a good shop in so cal to get it done before MSA). Its hard to get seats for s30 cars and even harder in 280z because of the enlarged trans tunnel. Thinking of going with the textured vinyl like material that was original. Some slits will need to be added for the racing belts but I think a competent shop should be able to do that. Anyway I put them in my car, but don't have pictures, but here are pictures of the car i got them from. Thing is I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEY ARE? There are no stamps or anything on the seats. Anyone know what car they came out of originally or what brand they are? Im keeping them, but I would like to find out more about them though. Anyway heres the pictures: So I have two questions for you people: 1- What car did these come out of? (or what brand) 2- Does anyone on here do upholstery locally (side job?) Challenger
Hey, those are pretty sweet. Looks like they fit nice.
aziza z
Hey, those are pretty sweet. Looks like they fit nice. Yea I love the fit. That was the only think I hated about my corbeaus before. Too big of a seat, and very uncomfortable. They fit great in 240z. 280z not so much. Should look great when they are redone.
aziza z
Well does anyone want to guess? I wont hold you to it. Just kinda would like to know what Im installing in my own car haha. If it helps, the z it was pulled from hasnt been on the road since 1991. So maybe 80s seats? Lotus seats of that era seem to resemble them alot. Thing is, I dont think there are many production cars that came with bucket seats (non adjustable). So maybe they are aftermarket?
Sparky
Porsche 914 maybe? maybe even JC whitney back in the VW section
aziza z
914 seats seem to be alot skinnier.
psdenno
914 seats have a high back with built-in headrest - all one piece, except removeable seat cushion, not a "bolt in" headrest as shown. Dennis http://www.porsche914.org
aziza z
Something about the seats has me leaning towards an American vehicle.
240Z2NV
Since they are 'fixed', meaning no articulation/recline/fold-forward function, I SERIOUSLY doubt that they were OE on any car. My money is on aftermarket, and they have probably already been reupholstered from their original appearance. My .
tfreer85
They look like very faded Corbeau Classics I's or even II's. Except all fabric rather than vinyl. Idk though....
aziza z
They do really look like the corebaus. Who knows. Maybe its a knock off. Its all good. Ill take pictures of them when they are redone If anyone want to see them.
icapture
i would love to see the finished product. I think they will look good with the textured vilyn as well. Good find.
garvice
If your going to get them recovered, think about having the head rest incorporated in the seat. I think that would look cool, especially if the head rest was reshaped a bit.

I think those are Toyota MR2 seats. They look a lot like mine, which are in storage. The headrest appears the same and the insert back and seat, likewise, look alike. What did you do to install them? g

aziza z
If your going to get them recovered, think about having the head rest incorporated in the seat. I think that would look cool, especially if the head rest was reshaped a bit. I was thinking of doing that. An easier way of going about it, is to change the shape of the headrest alone without in corporating it into the seats. I would love to incorporate it, but I think it might be tricky, especially since I want to make slits to fit the harness. The separated head rest right now would allow me to run the harness when I needed it "through" the seats. If incorporate, slits would need to be made. If someone can photoshop a couple of ideas I would appreciate it.
rigez
I was watching Top Gear the other day and they had a old 70s Ferrari Daytona (the one that looks a lot like a S30). Anyhow the seats you picked up look very similar to the Daytona seats. You may want to see about getting redone that way. http://www.worlduph.com/ferrari.htm http://www.jngcreations.com/blog/2009/03/ferrari-daytona-custom-seats/
aziza z
These are awesome. Maybe it would be easier to get headrests that are already close to these then to try and reshape the ones I have. Anyone have an idea of what car might have headrests that resembles these? I can get the distance of the holes in the seats to see if we can find a match. Im on the pursuit for the perfect s30 seat. I wonder if it would take much work to reshape the headrests like that.
tfreer85
Probably better off making most of it out of Fiberglass then add your padding onto it. Using just the base bars that connect the headrest to the seat.
