wondersparrow
oh, that was for 2, not 4. I only want to widen the front.
wondersparrow
Hmm, got the Baer spacers today, they don't fit... As expected the centre bore is not large enough. If the AZC brakes didn't fit so perfectly, I would suspect that I don't have 240z hubs. Were there different hubs for the 240's? The unfortunate thing is that living in Alberta means you can't get the attention of a machine shop without waving thousands of dollars in the air. I'll probably just get a flapper wheel and open these up myself.
JMortensen
AZC brakes require 280 hubs, I'm pretty sure.
wondersparrow
I thought the same, but I told him that I had a 240 (fully expecting to have to change). When the boxes got here, they had "use 240z hub" written on them, and they fit great. This car is a bit of a pain because it has been a track car most of its life, its had many owners, and nothing is documented. From the pictures I have found, it did look like the 240 hub though. JMortensen
That's a new one. It's good, because the 280 hubs are a couple lbs heavier as I recall. The difference in the hubs should be obvious. The 280 hubs are round where the wheel bolts up, the 240 hubs are scalloped.
wondersparrow
these are definately scalloped. Maybe AZC has new hats to make the 240 hubs fit. The disks are quite close to lca, but i get the impression that is the case with the 280 hubs as well.
johnc
Since the S30 is a lug centric design Nissan didn't spend a lot of time making sure the centerbores on the front hubs was consistently the same. I've seen variances of .100 between hubs that came off the same car.

Dave actually suggests cutting the end of the LCA off completely, or at least he used to. If you look at their aluminum control arm it is simlarly designed with no metal surrounding the ball joint. wondersparrow
I hit it with the grinder and took a fair bit off, then used a jack to lift each corner of the car to make sure it doesnt contact the rotor. As the whole car is still currently on jackstands, I didnt want to bounce it too much, but it looks like there is ~1/16" clearance still. I'll double check everything once the car is on the ground.
