Goober
OK my K member is going back into the car some time this week. I will be placing the motor in and i would like to know what oil pan will give me the best clearance. I have a truck oil pan right now. Administrators BRAAP Posted April 24, 2009 Administrators Share Posted April 24, 2009 (edited) I'm assuming you mean for your 240-Z. The truck pan will physically fit but the sump is quite low and if the car is lowered the sump will drag the ground. The F-bod pan seems to be the most popular. I have heard that a few have successfully used the Vette bat wing pan. http://ls1tech.com/forums/conversions-hybrids/817787-lsx-oil-pans.html Edited April 24, 2009 by BRAAP
MoNkEyT88
F-body pan.
Bigdeezs
LS2 vette pan is ideal...more clearance than the F-body pan, it has the best internal baffling for high G side loading and its pretty much flush with the k-member. Its like it was made for this swap.
Goober
Im having trouble finding one. Everyone wants an arm and a leg for a stock cast oil pan which should only be worth $
Bigdeezs
good luck...truck pans go for that but the GTO, F-body and vette pans are usually around $200+
Goober
will the 2 piece vette pan work.
Bigdeezs
if you mean this pan: I think VinZXT used this pan and had to cut off the wings to make it fit.
VinhZXT
I didn't know this is a 2 pieces pan. The one I used is the same thing but from a 98 model and it's a one piece. I had to cut the wings and cap them to work in the Z. With the wings you will have no room to run the exhaust. Also I don't think you can cap the 2 pieces pan. Goober
my buddy had a brand new never use or opened f-body oil pan sitting around. I paid $125 for it and the gasket.

Goober
Give you $150 for it! mmm HELL NO. Took me over a month to find one for a fair price.
Cable
F-body pan. If that's how low the LS1 pan hangs, I don't even want to think about how low the truck pan would be that is 3" deeper/lower.
