turbojohnny
I just picked up this car, and i've noticed that there is some blow by, so i have a healthy coating of oil on the inside of the j-pipe. i want something that will bolt right up to my existing manifold, but making a new down pipe is not a problem for me. my question is... what is a fairly inexpensive, and readily available turbo to replace this with? i'm not looking for big performance, just something to that will perform decently close to whatever this one did. turbojohnny
i keep searching but i can't seem to find the specs on this turbo, should there be more markings on the housings other than the tag?
big-phil
maybe a stock 280zx T3 turbo?
jeffer949
the 280z bae turbo kit used a j type coupler thing off of the na exhaust manifold. The 280zx kit had its own cast turbo manifold. the cast manifold has a t4 flange on it that had a exhaust opening that could of been opened up. So im assuming the 280z would have the same flange. So you need a t4 housing turbo or you need to get a t4/t3 adaptor and run a t3. I would just maybe suggest a rebuild kit. Check gpopshop.com they might have a rebuild kit for it. Sparky
Turbonetics bought rajay some time ago and may still have rebuild kits.
turbojohnny
Turbonetics bought rajay some time ago and may still have rebuild kits. i looked into that, they no longer own rajay, and don't have anything left for rajay turbos, i also contacted kelly aerospace, who bought rajay from turbonetics, and they no longer make any automotive turbos.
