motoman
So i have been searching around and all i can find is vapor tanks for sell. What i'm wanting to know is it ok to remove the tank and plug up the vent holes in the tank and just let it vent out the filler hose. I'm not really worried about losing alittle gas. But all i'm wanting to know is would i beable to do this with out any type of venting problems?
naviathan
The filler neck does not vent. If you were to remove the vapor canister you would need to move the vent line someplace where it's away from the passenger cabin, but still out of the elements. Frankly, I'd just leave it alone. The stock system works just fine so long as the vacuum diaphragm on top doesn't break.
z240
There is a great thread over on classiczcars.com about this. You must keep the vent lines, but not the evap tank. One line to the filler neck to allow air to escape while filling, and another to the front of the car to allow venting while running. Details here. www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19034 I've done this to three cars now. No problems yet. Jim

BillZ260
Should be ok, but if you park inside, your garage will smell like gas.
