:icon47:! I finally got my garage space at Dad's house. Told him 3 months ago that my Z is a garage queen so when I move in for college, I will get a spot. This was because he kept taking in customer cars and then storing them in the garage. He also likes to take all the pallets that our neighbors at the shop throw out. He plans on building a shed, which will take him like 5 year because he can't ever get personal projects finished which is fine, but for some odd reason, the wood was allowed to reside in the garage. So while he was gone I did some reorganizing. :shifty:

Of course once again he has ANOTHER customer car at home. Defies the point of even having a separate location for the shop when you bring your work to your house. I won't complain though, its a mini, they are mini, and I get to do the work on it which is money for me. :D

Some more cool updates. I'm mounting my trigger wheel now for my EDIS setup. Our machinist said he can mount the wheel press fit like this for $50-$75:

Thanks Paul.

Of course I get a second option and that is to make it adjustable with 3 mounting screws but he said that would cost probably like $175. This is cool but its an old damper, I don't want to invest heavily in it when it may let go. I drilled a 1/8" hole in the bottom of the "v" on one of the rows before I put it on the new motor. This way when I take it off I can get the drill bit and make sure the holes still line up, if not, the inertia rubber is dead and its time for a new pulley...

More super cool news. Dad met up with a long lost friend. He's big on German cars like BMW and Porsche and owns both. He told us our 45mm DCOE's are too big for a moderately hot 2L BMW motor, which I do agree because I don't expect much out of the BMW. Dad calls it my race car, but its being built how he wants it, on his very very very slim budget, and he wants it both track and street legal. If you get my drift you can tell that I will be building the car with the expectation to get out on the track and then have Dad drive it on the street between races however judging by this sad story, Dad will say he can't afford to race but he will gladly drive a sporty 2002 on the street. This is why I don't pitch in any money. I will buy fuel, tires, and entry fees, but I will not buy parts. In fact he pissed me off when I got my 40mm DCOE's in the mail and it came with a fuel reg, pump, and those giant canister filters. He takes the filter and the fuel reg and says oh you won't need these, we can use them on the BMW. And I'm like uh... I just paid $800 for this, think again. Anyway, long story short, we have two 45mm carbs for the BMW and I have three 40mm carbs on the Z. We were told 45's are too big so Dad said if I find one more 45mm carb he will trade me for the 40's. The two that we already have need to be rebuilt and stuff though so I have to watch out for those "hidden costs". Making an air box too. There is a ton of construction going on at UTA and I'm getting very worried about the dust. I'm going to use steel so I can weld it although Dad is hell bound on riveting it together.

Later dudes.

Cowtown Z Club meeting next Thursday I believe. Theres a kid in my calc class who is going to it in his z31/32 and his girlfriend has a 350z. Knowing that you have a zillion cars, I'm sure you are already aware of this.

By the way, if you have access to a 4.38 r200, find me on campus again. :]

Well that's just not cool. Is it an A+ block (webbing on the side of the block) or at the very least is it drilled for the cooper S head (extra two head bolts at each end)?

Still, a mini's a mini... There all fun and games until you put a 16v motor in one. Then they're terrifying.

Yah we'll have to find out. The owner said it was a 10-whatever but the badge on the back says 1275. I don't know how much he paid for the car but its really nice inside and out. It was funny though because heres a mini and then a z driving along the side of each other, Dad floors it, I do the same and his eyes bugged out from the noise intake noise and everything, then from me showing him who's boss. :P

These things with anything bigger than their 1275 is indeed scary. Not even that really, the Hyabusa motors are how big? and those things are beasts in a mini too.

Check out the 16V mini club, it's a british cite, but they have CRAZY motor builds. There's a few clipping 300hp and quite a few over 200 to the rollers. 300hp in a sub 1500lb car is... well. absurd.

I've got the factory works alloy doors and hood from an ex works factory car I'm plan on using on mine. Once I get the whole datsun thing out of my system, I can seriously see a RWD tube frame Rotary mini in the pipeline. O.o

Ok I agree with you now but not because of rust. New tires are on the back but geez, I was sliding around everywhere. Going 50, gun it, and the wheels spin. Every light, let the clutch out and the idle speed of the motor spins the tires. I take my exit and its on a slightly down hill slope, gentle on the breaks and its like I'm on ice. All this is fun, if no one is around, which is never.
