I need a quick answer about brakes.

Recommended Posts

right now my car is in the middle of a full disk conversion, and some of the parts are at the powder coaters. i.e. my new calipers front and rear. i still have one of my old calipers. i need to get the car down my relatively steep drive way, and onto the street so i can put it on a car trailer for transport to another city. can i block off the rear brake port on the master cylinder, and one of the front brake lines at the caliper end, and just use one brake on the front to get me down the drive way? again, this is only to get me down the drive way. if it is absolutely unsafe, i will not do it, i'm just looking for a solution. other suggestions that are helpful would be very much appreciated as well.

Jmortenson is 100% correct. If you block off the rear port you will have no brakes period on a 2 circuit master cylinder. I once had a similar situation with my 280z and used my pickup in front to ease it down the grade slowly and safely. Luckily my 280z rear and 96 ranger front bumpers were close enough in height to prevent any damage.

Hope this helps.

the trailer cant be moved to the driveway because my drive way is about a 60* angle and it will scrape way before the wheels hit the end of the driveway. we aren't willing to chance messing up either vehicle. my current plan is to hook a comealong to the back of the z, and to the front of the truck, and ease the z down the drive way. i think it should work, i'd just rather have used some brakes.

And I thought I was a grammar Nazi....

In looking over your posts, I'm not seeing you in that role, sorry.

Also, you did actually "read" the rules that you agreed to right? Your lack of grammar and the questions you have asked in other threads, (answers to which are clearly spelled out in the rules you agreed to), sure make it seem like you did not! roll.gif

Here are a couple SHIFT key threads for ya; :2thumbs:
