LT1 Guru's: Got spark, got injector pulse and fuel, but no start.

Recommended Posts

I know that it sounds impossible, but I've checked and I have spark (verified), used a noid light and have injector pulse and have fuel (plugs are wet).

Any thoughts? This is driving me nuts. I've cleaned the plugs and still no start.

Thanks in advance. The weather is perfect and can't drive the Z!!!!

whats the compression read?

have you installed a cam recently?(is there a remote chance its not degreed in correctly?

whats the fuel pressure read?, is should be a fairly steady 40-43 psi

have you adjusted the valves?

have you verified the IAC and TPS are correctly adjusted?

any vacuum leaks?

having sparks a good thing , but you need to have it at the correct time, have you verified with a timing light that its sparking near tdc on the cylinder

Grumpy:

Thanks for the starters. The car ran well two weeks ago at a car show and then was taken back to the shop to have the NOS system ironed out. What I didn't realize was that someone had adjusted the fpr way down. I knew I had fuel, but after checking everything else, I started working backwords and noticed it. Opened it back up, cranked it over and it fired up. What I hadn't done was have someone turn the motor over as I checked the pressure gauge. Would have saved me some frustration and time.

Thank you again for taking the time to give the tips. Alls well that runs well.

:)

IM always ,always glad to help!

I wish many of you gentlemen were closer, so you could run over to my shop, because, about 80% of the problems I see posted are easy to diagnose or correct if you have the experience, and tools i have, but it takes years to get a feeling for whats wrong and you learn mostly from your own screw-ups and watching others who know what they are doing , (I KNOW thats how I learned) so I try to pass on what info I can. I know how frustrating it is to have a problem , especially when your not sure of the cause, thats one reason I started posting info in a data base, resource, thats there for you guys to access, so youll spend less time beating your heads on walls, and throwing tools, and pulling your hair out.

when you get my age you want those tools and hair back, and your not up to banging you head on walls any more

Oh, man. Sounds like you need a new NOS shop. Glad to hear you got it running.

I paid to have a couple things done because I didn't know how and was to lazy to learn, big mistake. Not only did I pay a fortune but they really didn't do any of it right. My new policy..... "I don't have to pay someone to screw up my car, I am perfectly capable of doing that myself"

Deja LOL!

That is perfect!!!

My LT1 is running waiting for a non rainy day here to calibrate the Auto Meter Electric Speedo, I have put about 30 miles on it so far but had to find some mileage markers on a highway.

I keep shredding belts though, I'll start a new thread on this soon, in the mean time I carry a spare.

Thanks,

Greg
