Mikez31ss
I've got really smalltime goals compared to HZ standards. What I really want to do is drive the thing and have some fun with it. The only priority modifications are simple ignition and electrical upgrades for reliability. In the not too distant future I hope to swap out the L24, 4 speed, and carbs for an L28et and a 5 speed. The suspension and steering are pretty good but I'm still getting used to the non power steering. Might do some rear disc brakes just for simplicity more than performance. I'll try to lurk and learn a lot more than ask questions. Hell...with my simple goals, most of the answers to the questions I'd have are already saved to bookmarks and my hard drive Anyway...meet my car:

Two80z4me
Did you do that body work yourself? It looks really good even with the headlights, which I'm a little fond of myself

Tell you what...if you have two complete round assemblies in 901 silver I'll trade you The best thing I can say about these is that they are fiberglass. 19762802+2
I believe that is a Jim Cook racing Body kit, they don't make them anymore.
Mikez31ss
I believe that is a Jim Cook racing Body kit, they don't make them anymore. You think so? I really wish I knew more about the car. I'm the third owner. The guy I bought it from knew next to nothing about the car despite owning it for 15 years. The original owner did all the mods you can see and most that you can't see. Unfortunately he died a few years back so I have no easy way of finding out anything about the body or engine mods. I don't know the specs on the cam or anything else about the engine internals really. I didn't even know about that adjustable timing gear until I took the valve cover off. And apparently that perfect dash is really a perfect dash. It doesn't appear to be a cap and I posted some pics over at classicz and it appears to be an original dash. I love the exhaust sound. It's better than my z31's or s130's ever sounded.
Sparky
Your car has a great stance (maybe a bit lower but other wise spot on) love the triples too and personally would consider sticking with them on a built L28 but that's just me, and that's coming from someone with a 240Z turbo. I hate to say it but those headlights have always made me cringe but your car is the first one that didn't leave me with a full body spasm. Mikez31ss
Hahaha that's good to hear. It's the exhaust tip that poses a real danger. I've barked my shin on it a couple of times. Tempted to cut it shorter. I don't think I want the car any lower. I have 3 or 4 speed humps to get over before I can get out of my neighborhood and the lowest point on the car is 2" from the ground so I'm just getting by as it is. You know anything about these lights..like, when were they popular or was there any real point to them...and I'm using that word popular loosely Those carbs are leaking and need new seals, gaskets etc. I bought "comprehensive service kits" from eurocarbs but I haven't worked up the nerve to do the work yet. There aren't that many parts in the kits and if I write down number of turns on the adjustment screws I can probably get it close to where it is now. I think it's adjusted pretty well now because there are no stumbles or bogging problems that I hear people w/ Webers talk about. I think the floats do need to be set because I checked one and it was off by a lot.
UofA_ZCar
Your car does have a nice stance. According to an article in SportZ magazine the square headlights were part of the Jim Cook Racing "California Z" conversion. The rest of the body modifications were wide fender flares and a whale tail.
