Shnipplelicken
Well, between work and getting smashed at the Tiki Bar opening weekend, I managed to get a little work done. I removed the old, worn out differential bushings, sanded and painted the mustashe bar and tranverse link. I also took out the fuel cell and it's frame to redesign it. Shnipplelicken
This turned out way better than I thought it would. I guess I under-estimate my abilities sometimes.
Leon
Nice work, I've been following this thread for a little while. I've been cleaning up and painting my suspension parts as well. I was curious as to what your method is, and what have you been using for paint? I've been cleaning mine up with a wire wheel (angle grinder), light sanding where needed and then applying some rattle can Rustoleum. Your parts look very nice! I was using a scotchbrite roloc wheels. The wire wheel idea got real old after the bristles break off and hit me in the face a few times. I've just been using Rustoleum for everything so far. I just used the High Temp engine paint becuase I happen to have it laying around. My problem is, I snapped off one of the bolts that bolt this assembly to the frame and its being a real pain. Haha, those bits of wire get me every time! I'll check out the scotchbrite wheels, good tip. I've been using this paint (got it at Home Depot) and mine have been turning out pretty good, I just hope the paint lasts. Good luck! I've been cleaning mine up with a wire wheel (angle grinder), light sanding where needed and then applying some rattle can Rustoleum. Your parts look very nice! You could always use electrolysis it gets rid of all the rust then all you have to do is brush it to get the deposits off and voila no rust at all, but you do have to paint right away or flash rust will happen. All you have to do is get a tub of water put some baking soda in it get a car charger, hook up a wire to the piece you want to get rust free, dip it in the water keeping the charger clamp out of the water, then get a iron rebar or something metal stick it into the water, make sure they aren't touching. Leave it in for a few hours depending on size of the piece you want rust free, brush off, paint, Good as new. You can see lots of cool videos on youtube about it, just search Electrolysis rust removal. Edit: also forgot to mention it takes off all the grime and existing paint as well so its like media blasting but not abrasive and works well on smaller parts. Shnipplelicken
I've got some Techno Toy Tuning lower control arms coming soon. I've removed the old fuel lines and removed the entire rear brake line. Im going to start piecing together the rear disc brakes and start bending my own brake lines. ModernS30
Im going to start piecing together the rear disc brakes and start bending my own brake lines. What calipers/rotors do you plan to use? Would you be interested if I got caliper brackets made to fit the 280zx disk and caliper conversion? (late 82-83 parts) Price is still unsure as I haven't got over to the machine shop yet. I am going to try to make a blank out of wood.

I am going to try to make a blank out of wood. Im probably going to go with the 280zx rear calipers and rotors. If you can get me a good price on those brackets, we can work something out. Someone has a pair of those brackets on ebay for about $
Shnipplelicken
still waiting for my lower control arms....
Shnipplelicken
Well, it sorta looks pretty. Now to make it go fast. I'm engine shopping tonight now that I have 3k in the bank. I know im going to get some flak for getting a 2jz, but Im happy as long as its nasty fast and relatively easy to put in the car. Giving Beta Motorsports a call too for that niffty engine mount. Shnipplelicken
Lower control arms finally came in today. Finished one side, but Im still trying to extract the spindle pin out of the right strut assembly. Still fighting with JDM engine corps for this 2jzgte, but they are giving me a hard time about having a different shipping address than my billing address. Well excuse me for not being able to fit an engine in my p.o. box lol.

JSM
Looking good so far. The only thing different I would have done is paint the underside before mounting all the newly painted suspension parts. I love watching people motivated working on projects!
