280z Exhaust Note

Recommended Posts

Hey Z guys and Gals, I'm doing my exhaust on a 1978 Datsun 280z with L28 Fuel injected engine. I've become obsessed with YouTube over this because I can see/hear what it will be. I cannot identify this set up in the video I’m linking. Can someone tell me what it is?

Or search "2nd Gen Datsun (Nissan) 280Z @ Cars and Coffee Meet 1/2/2010"

I really appreciate it

Sounds just like my car. I'd be willing to bet that's an L28et with either a fully open exhaust, or some sort of small, straight-through muffler.

Mine, for comparison:

L28et, stock T3 turbo, 3" mandrel downpipe, 3" mandrel open exhaust.

Perfect that answers my question, thank you for the vid that help alot!

Thanks for the feedback guys!!! off to the junk yard to get an L28ET now!

That car is a local around my parts. The car was built by TONY C, he is a member here. He then sold it to Jared, the current owner. I know that the piping is 2 1/2 from the down pipe back, but i dont know what muffler it has on it. Maybe you can try pming Tony and see what it has for a muffler.
